Oftana welcomes challenge of fitting in at TNT

CALVIN Oftana is more than ready to embrace the winning tradition of TNT in his bid to win a first ever PBA championship.

The 26-year-old sophomore said he's aware of the Tropang Giga's championship pedigree that it's imperative for him to fit in with the team right away.

"Kailangan ko lang mag-fit in sa isang high caliber team na (tulad) ng TNT na mostly nasa finals. So I need to learn," said Oftana.

His debut with TNT though, failed to transpire to a win

The Tropang Giga lost a heartbreaker against the Magnolia Hotshots, 94-92, behind the winning free throws of Paul Lee in the final four seconds of their Commissioner's Cup game Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Oftana finished with 12 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes as a starter in his first game with his new team.

But he only shot 4-of-11 from the field, and was actually called for the foul that led to Lee's game-winning free throws.

Oftana isn't one to dwell on the matter inherently, and is quick to move and look forward to the Tropang Giga's next game.

What's important, according to him, is the support system he has gotten from the entire team in the short time he spent so far with the franchise after coming in on board following a three-team trade that also includes NLEX and Blackwater.

"Approachable lahat. Tinuturuan nila ako para maka-adjust sa sistema namin," Oftana said. (RG)
