PBA celebrates 49th anniversary with special treat for fans

IN celebration of its 49th anniversary, the Philippine Basketball Association is giving out free tickets to the first 100 fans for Wednesday's Philippine Cup doubleheader at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The special treat dubbed 'Maki-Join sa PBA Anibersaya,' will be for the games pitting league leader San Miguel against Terrafirma, and Magnolia opposite Northport.

To be eligible for the promo, fans are required to meet any of the following criteria:

Bring or wear a PBA team jersey.

Show a groufie together with your PBA idol.

Bring any memorabilia bearing the signature of your PBA idol.

An FB post while playing basketball, watching PBA games, wearing a PBA jersey, or holding a basketball and posted on the day of the league's anniversary (April 9) together with the hashtag #HappyBirthdayPBA.

The celebration is just a warm up to a bigger festivity next year when Asia's pioneering pro league marks its 50th anniversary.

The PBA opened shop on April 9, 1975 at the historic Araneta Coliseum, with guard Gregorio 'Joy' Dionisio scoring the first ever basket in league annals during the Mariwasa-Noritake and Concepcion Carrier game. (RG)
