Romeo gets needed rest as SMB awaits finals foe

COMPLETING a sweep of its PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series will allow Terrence Romeo to fully rest his sore calf.

The San Miguel guard admitted hurting his leg in the team's Game 4 win over Rain or Shine last week, 107-100.

Romeo was seen walking with a limp and even removed the shoe on his right foot while on the way to the team dugout.

"Yung calf ko medyo tumitigas, parang magka-cramps na hindi mo maintindihan," he later said following the win that completed the Beermen's sweep of the best-of-seven series.

But the 32-year-old Romeo has the benefit of a much-needed rest as San Miguel awaits the winner of the other semifinals series between Barangay Ginebra and Meralco.

The Kings currently lead their series, 3-2, heading into Wednesday's Game 6 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

As it was, the first order of the day for San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent was to have the team take the off last Saturday and Sunday, good enough not only for Romeo but for the entire Beermen to rest their banged-up bodies.

Romeo averaged 12.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists during the semis. (RG)
