Salva imparts importance of mental strength inside PBA bubble

IT'S good to remain positive inside the PBA bubble.

A positive mindset, that is.

Meralco wingman Nico Salva said it's important to remain optimistic while inside the Clark bubble for the next few weeks and games in the Philippine Cup restart being played on a daily basis.

The former Ateneo standout, who won five UAAP men's basketball championship with the Blue Eagles, added mental stability is essential among players, coaches, and team personnel, who are all away from their families and loved ones for a minimum of one month at least.

"In the bubble, you have to be even-keeled. You can't be too happy with your wins, can't be too sad with losses," said Salva.

"It's hard to cope up with everyone dahil yung mood mo makaka-affect sa team mo. Malaking bagay yung pagiging steady lang and having that patience sa isa't-isa."

Salva is coming prepared for the Bolts inside the bubble, adding he's bringing with him four large suitcases including two of the things that he loves doing most during his spare time.

"Mahirap mabakante mind mo, so puwede ko dalhin libro, playstation," he disclosed during his guesting stint in the evening show Sports Page.

Of course, the 30-year-old won't forget having his favorite coffee around.

"Ako coffee maker (ang dadalhin), kasi gusto ko ng kape," said Salva.

Prior to the season resumption, the Meralco forward already did a personal sacrifice after his planned wedding was pushed to a later date with the COVID-19 pandemic still very much around.

"Hindi muna kami makakatingin ng places so made-delay ang wedding definitely," said Salva. "Pero ok sa kanya (fianc?e) kasi sacrifice for the future." (RG)
