Tenorio on Govs' Cup finals: It's a chess match

NOW it's Barangay Ginebra's turn to make its move.

As Meralco took Game 3 of the PBA Governors' Cup finals, 83-74, LA Tenorio said the Kings will have to make their own adjustments in the hope of getting back on track in the best-of-seven series.

Tenorio, 37, said the Kings will now have to do their assignment and react to what the Bolts did to them the previous game at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"Pag kalaban namin ang Meralco parang chess match, balikan parati," he said.

Game 4 is set Wednesday as the series shifts to the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Bolts bounced back big after a 99-93 loss in Game 2 as import Tony Bishop dropped 30 points and 16 rebounds, and Chris Newsome with an all-around stats of 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists to retake the series lead at 2-1.

Tenorio acknowledged the changes the Bolts did during the game.

"Nag-adjust sila, so we have to credit them. Now it's time for us to adjust again," he said.

In particular, Tenorio said the Kings had to zero on the adjustments Meralco made in the second half of Game 3 where they outplayed Ginebra, which was held to just 26 points - 13 each in the third and fourth quarters.

The Kings led by as many as 43-30 and sat on an eight-point advantage at halftime.

"Yun ang kailangan naming tignan para hindi na maulit yung nangyari," said the Ginebra starting guard.

Tenorio finished with 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists, but only had two points the entire second half as he was hampered with a right ankle sprain. (RG)
