TNT thriving despite absence of key players

FROM big men to its long distance gunners, injuries just keep piling up for TNT.

It's the turn of Rey Nambatac and Kim Aurin to sit on the sidelines as both failed to suit up for the Tropang Giga's 84-82 win over the Magnolia Hotshots in a PBA Governors Cup marquee matchup Tuesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Nambatac hurt his right shoulder during the team's previous game against Meralco, while Aurin is down with the flu.

The case of Nambatac is day to day, while Aurin could be out for more than a week as they joined Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and Henry Galinato in the team's injury list.

Without two of its best shooters, coach Chot Reyes said the Tropang Giga needed to fill in the outside threat they lost in order to pull off the grind out win against the Hotshots.

"We knew we would be struggling offensively because we don't have two of our best outside shooters, Rey Nambatac and Kim Aurin," said the TNT coach.

"Remember the last time we played, Rey hit some very crucial outside shots in the endgame (against Meralco), and that was the challenge for us if we could find ways to score in the absence of our top two gunners."

Nambatac averaged 11.5 points and 4.2 rebounds, while shooting a high 52 percent from three point range (13-of-25).

Aurin on the other hand, is a 40.9 percent shooter from beyond the arc and submitted 7.1 points per game.

Despite the manpower shortage, TNT continues to thrive and still holds the league's best record at 7-1.
