Tropang Giga try to stay hot versus upset conscious Dyip

GET set for an uber fast-paced action - with their imports leading the way - when TNT and Terrafirma collide Saturday in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Tropang Giga are looking for their third straight win and fifth in six games that would at least keep them at third-running spot.

For their part, the Dyip would like nothing more than to pull off another shocker for a second straight win, improve to a 3-2 record and grab a piece of sixth.

"Basta as long as we continue playing as a team on both ends baka sakaling manalo ulit kami," said Terrafirma coach Johnedel Cardel.

"Alam naman nating very strong team ang TNT, pero if we keep it close and give ourselves a chance in the end baka maka-tsamba ulit," added Cardel.

The significance of the game is also not lost on TNT coach Jojo Lastimosa, who wants his team to build up more momentum before facing the league's other heavyweights like San Miguel Beer, Meralco and Barangay Ginebra.

"This (Converge game) is important, but the next one is also important," said Lastimosa after his Tropa cut short the FiberXers' unbeaten start at four.

Terrafirma import Jordan Williams and TNT counterpart Jalen Hudson are sure to take the lead for their respective teams.

Williams is coming off a 57-point performance in the Dyip's 119-106 win over Blackwater last Thursday, eclipsing by a point the season-high Hudson set in a 128-122 decision over Converge just the day before.

"Basically, it's a combination of my teammates and my coach," said Williams after outdueling new Blackwater import Troy Williams, who notched 55 points in his PBA debut.

"They're trusting me to be the leader out there, take over when it's time and finish the game," added Williams. "So I give a shoutout to my teammates for trusting in me and believing in me."

Lastimosa's belief in Hudson is also not lacking. "Jalen is... very athletic," he said before adding more should be expected from the former Florida Gator who went undrafted in the NBA like Williams.

"The only thing I'm looking for from Jalen right now is to be a little bit more all-around, get the other guys more involved," stated Lastimosa. "Eventually he's gonna figure it out." (NC)
