PBA D-League: Letran goes for the jugular, San Beda determined to tie series

WANGS Basketball @27 Strikers-Letran goes for the jugular when clashes against Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda in Game 2 of the 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup semifinals Tuesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Game time is 4 p.m.

The three-time NCAA champion Knights moved on the cusp of another finals appearance by rallying from 24 point-deficit in Game 1 and went on to stun the Red Lions,93-87, overtime.

Now, they go for the kill.

"We expect San Beda to bounce back but we're ready," said Letran neophyte coach Rensy Bajar.

"Hopefully, makuha na namin 'yung Game 2. We'll take it a quarter-by-quarter approach. We'll just play our game and stick to our game plan."

Ace guard Kurt Reyson, who exploded for 32 points including seven straight in OT that took the game away from San Beda in Game 1, will once again carry the fight for the Knights along with his support crew of Vince Cuajao, Kobe Monje, Kevin Santos, Kyle Tolentino and Pao Javillonar.

But the wards of San Beda coach Yuri Escueta are not ready to surrender just yet.

In fact, the Red Lions brimming with confidence they will force a deciding Game 3.

"It's a good test for our team's character on how we will react after a tough loss. The team is in high spirits in practices," said Escueta, who will lean on Jacob Cortez, Yukien Andrada, James Payosing, Clifford Jopia and skipper Peter Alfaro. (JBU)
