Uichico simplifies NLEX loss to Ginebra

JONG Uichico explained it plain and simple NLEX's huge 28-point blowout loss to Barangay Ginebra.

"They just outplayed us from the start. They outrun us. They outhustled us," said the Road Warriors' coach. "That's why they built that lead na hindi na kami naka-recover."

NLEX found itself in deep trouble early in the game and just couldn't get into a rhythm, suffering a 119-91 loss to Ginebra Tuesday night in the PBA Governors' Cup.

The Road Warriors stared at a 21-point deficit right at halftime and trailed by as many as 100-67 in the fourth quarter.

It was a flattening loss to a team that just three days ago showed it can go toe-to-toe with the star-studded San Miguel Beermen which it dragged into overtime, before eventually beating them, 112-108, in Cagayan De Oro City.

Uichico though, doesn't want the little recovery period NLEX had as an excuse for its second loss in five outings in Group B.

"We'll not find reasons why we lost the game except that they outplayed us, outrun us. They shot very well, we couldn't not defend, and we could not score at the same time," said the nine-time champion coach.

"So that's the story of the game because even if we're tired, if we could have just defended, hindi ko sinasabing mananalo kami, but it may not be a 30-point game. And that what makes it you're feeling worse because it's a 30-point loss. Kung maganda yung nilaro mo at natalo ka, baka matanggap mo pa. But no, we just got outplayed, outhustled, out lahat."

NLEX needs a quick turnaround from the Ginebra loss as it will face the streaking Blackwater next when it returns to the court this Friday.(RG)
